  7. I have what looks to be the exact model pictured. I bought it in Chicamagalur in Karnataka.
Although I was shown how to use it while I was in India, I can’t seem to make this seemingly simple contraption work. It seems that the coffee gets stuck in the holes, keeping the water from filtering through. I once waited over a week and only 1/5 of the bottom chamber had filled.
Also, the press sometimes falls to the bottom of the top chamber prematurely. Shouldn’t it rest on top of the water, pressing it down as it filters?
I LOVED the coffee in South India. Can you help me make it the same way here?

    Indira says…
The trick is using, finely powdered coffee (very fine with coffee grinder/Summet kind of small mixie jar). Try with fine coffee powder, 15 minutes maximum, you too can make a delicious coffee. (You have to add milk seperately.) Hope this helps.

  8. I have been long looking for information on the South Indian Coffee Filter. This pic seems to be the same as in the Wikipedia. Another source I located for the filter is here Cafe Coffee Day:

Thanks for the link and for your nice words about my blog, Pravin!
Yes, they are different. But they look the same, except for the lids. There are some neat links about our coffee there, I am going to add them to this post.
