  6. Hi Indira,

I live in Redmond. Did you visit Mayuri grocery? Thats a good one to go to. They are in Redmond.

Also, try Cedar’s and Bombay Grill for good Indian food. These are in the University district.

Hope you are enjoying here! Have a good time.

    Nini.

  7. 1. Hi Indiraaaaa…welcome back! It’s nice to have you back 🙂
Now quickly whip up some yummy dishes and post the pics..would you!?
    2. By the way, I looked at the map and saw that Oregon and Washington are next to each other, then why would it take 5 days to travel?
    3. Hey in that pic with flowers…is that a bag from India? I remember seeing such ones that are made at home.

  10. Indira, while back you posted a picture of lady and toddler, she looks almost similar to our B.Tech lecturer Ms.Geetha Vani who used to teach us Computer graphics, Automata Theory etc back in 95-97. Is she her? All we girls, used to admire the way she wears Sarees.

In my view, Mayuri groceries is better when compared to Bharat Groceries. Even in Uwajimaya(Seattle Downtown), you get all Indian vegetables. If you cross International station(transit) and go straight on that ave, you will see Chinese road side stalls where you get almost all Indian vegetables..

  11. Yay! Indira is back. Been missing you.
I even had an Indian dinner party whist you were absent, and I was thinking about you are doing when I was cooking it.

  12. Indira, I second the Mayuri suggestion. Also the same block has the Mayuri chaat & sweet shop, so you can get some desi chaat while you shop.

  15. Nandita: thanks!

Hi Susan V: Thanks and we like it here already. I’ll definitely visit the restaurant you mentioned one of these weekends. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi Nini: We haven’t been to Mayuri yet. Sri and Dangit also recommended it, must be good place. I will go there for Deepavali shopping. thanks.

Supriya: You noticed. Yep, it is from Nandyala. My MIL gave me this bag. It’s my temple bag in Pittsburgh, now to ritu bazar in Seattle.:) I like that bag very much.

Archana: Wonderful market, I agree. I am also liking my visits to pike place market.

Hi Sri: Yes, that is my sister Geetha. Glad to know that you are one of her students.
We went to Uwajimaya thrice already. China district location is quite near to us, a 5 minute drive. I actually did a one second dance when I found this shop. So happy to see somuch fresh produce of all kinds.:)

    Sam: you are a sweetheart!:)
Hope you had a wonderful Indian dinner party.

Dangit: Chaat and sweet shop too, then I must go there. Thanks for the suggestion.

    Thanks RP.

Supriya: Yes and I also use it to grind dry spices like clove, cinnamon, elachi etc.

  16. Apna Bazaar is a good store- check out their fresh homemade style yogurt. Its just like the yogurt mom used to make back home in India, organic and without preservatives.

  21. Indira,
Welcome back. I am very glad to see you back. Its been a while that I am visiting your blog. It looks like you happen to ignore my comment. I am from kurnool and my husband is from nandyal. Now for all traditional recipes I know where to hop on.

Also, Your sister Geetha vani was my project guide. We all girls used to admire Ms. Geetha vani very much. I will keep looking forward for your recipes.

  22. I’m happy that you are back, Indira! I’m glad you had a safe trip. While you were away, I had been checking your blog regularly to see if you had arrived in seattle…

Your pictures are great and Kittaya looks so sweet!

  23. Pike place mkt used to have free parking for less than 1 hr if you park underground in the parking structure. I think they removed the idea when hookers and druggies misued the privilege.
