Sunday at S.U. Kitchen

Getting ready to prepare aloo chole at SU kitchen

Seattle University is hosting Thanksgiving dinner party tomorrow at the university function hall. And on request, Vijay and I had volunteered to prepare some dishes. The main attraction for us was university’s restaurant style big kitchen. Working with big burners and cooking food for people the size that would get invited to a celebrity’s wedding… it was work but we had good time today. Prepared our favorite winter comfort foods Aloo chole and chakli (murukulu) for the party.

  3. Indira,
you are expanding and spreading your culinary skills far and wide. I can bet that both the preparations are a hit in the party. The university is fortunate enough to taste your aloo chole and murukulu. Anyway, we are fortunate to “virtual taste” the preparations.

  4. Hi, Indira,
I have been reading your blog for quite sometime now and I am a huge fan. Great job! I enjoy cooking and trying new recipes. This Thanksgiving, I am hosting a group and was wondering if you had any ideas for a vegetarian, Indian-style Thanksgiving dinner. Thanks and great work!

  7. It should have been exciting to work in such a huge kitchen,Indira. I have always wanted to step into one of these and have look at all the equipment there 🙂 Do post more pics if possible 🙂 And did you use the same mould you have for making the chakli…cos you would have had to make it in huge quantities rite ??

  13. Hey thanks all for your nice comments.

It was little bit intimidating at first but kitchen had everything we needed, well stocked both ingredients and cooking vessels. And also has helpful staff ready to do our bidding.

For chakli, I took two molds both Indian and US style cookie press with me. We prepared star shaped coils of chakli. The big wok (bundis), really made it easy to prepare such large quantity.

Hi Mythili, nice to see you here. Hope you are having great time in Seattle.
