  1. That is a nice video show you’ve put there Indira. Ameena’s narration and presentation are very appealing. Thanks for providing the links.

  2. Indira, how do I season mortar and pestle? I didn’t know that. I just washed it well in hot soapy water and started using for small things such as crushing garlic ginger etc..

  3. Nice video, right? Glad you liked it Madhavi.

Hi RP: Some stonemade mortars, they release sand first few times on pounding. To make clear it off stone or sand like particles, usually a fistful of rice or other grains like sorghum or ragi are pounded in mortar couple of times, followed by washing with water thoroughly. This would clean up the mortar for future uses. This is called seasoning the mortar.
Granite stone mortars usually do no need this kind of treatment and can be directly used without any worry of sand particles etc.
    Hope this helps.
    Happy pounding. 🙂

  4. Hi Indira…

I had erlier posted some comments here that didnt appear.God knows why?

I wanted to know when and if you would be video blogging your recipes?

I wanted to know if you heard of the famous American chef the late Raji Jallepalli?

Jallepalli sounds every inch a telugu name.

You may read about her at the below link.

Hope we will get to know some of her recipes through you.
