Hi Indira,
I love your site and am a regular visitor. Thank you for the tambulam. Where did you get the tamboolam container from? It is really nice and looks traditional.

Indira Ji,

I have noticed that the Andhra people give the channa/chole just soaked in the tamboolam. I am a Tamilian and we give it as sundal sweet or salty.
What is the reason for giving the soaked chole as it is?

Happy Varalakshmi Nonbu wishes to you too.

Thanks for the varamahalaksmi thambulam. Wish Mahalaxmi will bestow all of us, with good health, wealth and happiness! I'm a frequent visitor to your lovely website. The pictures are really beautiful. I've sent the link to your website, to all the friends and relatives. It's become a habit to visit your website at least once a day. I liked the thambulam container. What is the container called in English and where do we get it in US?

Shri, Janaki, Nina, Vijju, Laxmi, Neroli, Padma, Priya, Mamatha, Kay, Sreelu, Aarthi, Raaga, Ranjitha and Rekha:

Thanks very much for coming to my webhome for thambulam and for your blessings. Your presence made the vratham more fulfilling to me. Namasthe!

ABala: What a terrible thing to happen to our beloved city! Thanks for your concern, everyone I know are safe and sound.

Hello Ravi: Nice to see you after a long time. Glad to hear that you had success with the pongal recipe. It's a classic and my favorite as well.

Freshma: Thambulam is offered with good will and affection. The ingredients turmeric, kumkum - represent soubhagyam(long life), flowers, the green leaf and betel nuts -santhosham(happiness), and the fruits and the beans - arogyam(health).
In return, thambulam receiver bless the host with soubhagyam, santhosham and arogyam. It's essentially a gift process but of spiritual kind.
This is my understanding of thambulam tradition.
