  1. These remind me of my childhood days. These little yellow bananas were so tasty, I used to eat them a lot 🙂

  4. Hi Indira,

It would be great to know more about these bananas. I have bought them in the Bay Area, and people say that the peels are supposed to be very ripe looking/blackish. But they always taste a little fermented to me. Could you say something about in what part of the ripening to rotting cycle they are best to use?

    Thanks!

  6. Hi Madhavi: Me too.:)

Musical: Yes. They are chitti/yelakkai bananas. There are several thotas that grow this type of small bananas near Mahanandi. They are our favorite bananas.:)

Mandira: From local Vietnamese grocery. I occasionally see them at Indian grocery also.

Shambhavi: Black means overripe and we usually like them when they are yellow and with little black dots, like shown in the image.
Seems like you have opened the chai shop. Congratulations and nice website.

Balu: For us also. Long live MTR!
